DALLAS -- Erik Cole again proved to be the difference against the Nashville Predators. Cole scored two goals in the second period when Dallas snapped a tie, and the Stars went on to beat the Predators 4-1 on Friday night. The Predators (16-18-4) are 1-4-1 since defeating Dallas at home on Dec. 12 and winless in their last five games. They have allowed 21 goals in those games. Jamie Benn scored on Dallas first shot, a wraparound just 42 seconds into the game. Antoine Roussel missed a penalty shot at 16:35 of the first period. "We had a couple of really great scoring chances prior to that," Cole said. "I felt we were creating opportunities. "Everyone upped their intensity. We got the two quick ones." Nashville tied it on Kevin Kleins first goal this season at 7:14 of the second. The defenceman skated down the slot and knocked Colin Wilsons centring pass from low in the left circle past goalie Kari Lehtonen at 7:14. Just 24 seconds later, Cole sent a drive from the right circle into the near corner of the net for a 2-1 lead. Rich Peverleys backhanded pass from the goal line set up Cole. "We could have been talking about a missed penalty shot, and 3-on-1s and 2-on-1s," Stars coach Lindy Ruff said. "To answer right away was important." On his second goal, Cole skated in hard at Hutton, then stopped abruptly. The goalie spread-eagled across the net, but Cole fitted the puck between Huttons left skate and the right post. "That first shift after a goal is critical," Nashville coach Barry Trotz said. "You want to get it in and get some zone time so you can keep some momentum on the other team. We didnt do that. "We were in pretty good defensive position on that. It was a seeing-eye puck and thats the way its been going for us." Ryan Garbutt tipped in a shot at 4:09 of the third for Dallas final goal. Lehtonen made 33 saves. Over the last four games, he has allowed only six goals on 132 shots, a .954 save percentage. Hutton stopped 30 shots for Nashville, which had changed goalies in its three previous games. Benn beat Hutton after skating behind the net. Hutton was late getting across, seemingly more concerned with Tyler Seguin on the left side. "It was definitely a tough way to start," Hutton said. "I tried to battle, but giving up four is not good enough on any night." Dallas had a chance for a two-goal lead at 16:35 of the first period. Roussel was awarded a penalty shot when he was pulled down after taking a pass at the blue line and splitting two defenders. It was Roussels second penalty shot this season. He scored the winning goal in a 4-3 victory at Chicago on Dec. 3. Nashville outshot the Stars 9-7 in the first, but Dallas also missed seven shots to the Predators three. "We stayed a little bit more disciplined," Benn said. NOTES: The line of Benn, Seguin and Valeri Nichushkin has totalled 12 goals in the last six games. . Dallas Alex Chiasson missed his second consecutive game because of the flu. . The Stars removed Aaron Rome (lower-body injury) from the injured list, but placed defenceman Sergei Gonchar (concussion) on the list. . Nashville rookie defenceman Seth Jones, 19, made his first NHL appearance in his hometown. He played for the Bantam Major Dallas Stars while his father, Popeye Jones, was an assistant coach for the NBAs Dallas Mavericks. Dirk Nowitzki Authentic Jersey . Bernier left Thursday nights game against the Kings with a lower-body injury and was replaced by James Reimer, who stopped every shot he faced to pick up the victory. Custom Mavericks Jersey . The 27-year-old Niskanen, the more offensive-minded of the pair of defencemen joining the Capitals, got a $40.25 million, seven-year contract. "Its a very big commitment from Washington. Thats no small thing. Youre talking a seven-year commitment for a very substantial amount of money," said Niskanen, who got married Saturday. http://www.shopmavericksonline.com/womens-jason-kidd-basketball-jersey/ . The Vikings picked up one more victory at the soon-to-be-demolished stadium, perhaps a parting gift for the popular coach. Fittingly, the Detroit Lions left on the losing end. Toronto acquired Woodson, an Ottawa native who grew up in Calgary, last September from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. It was back in 1991 that Stephen Ames got a taste of what life in Canada would be like. For a guy raised in the tropical temperatures of Trinidad, it was a rude Calgary welcome. "I think the wind chill was minus-55," he said recalling his first Canadian winter spent living in the basement of his mother-in-laws house. "I never left the house." Ames has never really grown fond of winter, but he has certainly fallen in love with Canada. On Wednesday, the country paid him back for that by naming him to the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame. A four-time winner on the PGA Tour including the 2006 Players, Ames is winding down his career on the regular tour and preparing to join the 50-and-over gang on the Champions circuit in April after reaching the magic age of 50. For most of this year, hell split his time between the two tours using his top 50-career money list exemption on the PGA Tour. When asked what he thought the difference between the two tours would be, Ames said it might have to do with what happens off the course. "I think its the 19th hole," he said with a chuckle. "I think its a bit more relaxed after the round." Ames would be a worthy inductee based solely on his playing record, but his contributions to Canadian golf go well beyond that. He has run the Stephen Ames Cup for the past decade, a team event that pits squads from Canada against those from Trinidad. Some of the youngsters who have participated in that event have gone on to earn U.S. college scholarships. And he was instrumental in bringing the Shaw Charity Classic to Calgary, helping line up a team of big rollers in the Western Canadian city to lay the foundation for the Champions Tour event. Ames was also the guy who gave an energetic young teacher named Sean Foley a chance to work with a PGA Tour pro. We all know where thats gone. When asked what the top mark of his career is, Ames didnt hesitate. "Its this," he stated, in reference to his indduction.dddddddddddd "I think being in the Hall of Fame is the highlight." On the course, Ames said that his Players victory was at the top of his personal list. I can say that in all the golf Ive covered and watched, that is simply the best 18 holes of golf Ive ever witnessed. Ive never seen anyone control his golf ball for every shot as Ames did that day. All he did was beat the best field in golf by six shots. I remember some of the biggest names in the game that day shaking their heads in disbelief at what he was doing to TPC Sawgrass. For some people, Ames is seen as a prickly personality but to those who get to know him, nothing could be further from the truth. Hes a guy with a huge heart who loves to laugh and loves his family. Sometimes when he speaks his mind, it can get him in trouble such as the occasion when he questioned Tiger Woods driving ahead of the 2006 Match Play. While a lot was made of that and the subsequent beating Woods laid on him, what he said wasnt wrong. Woods was hitting it all over the lot with his driver. After he won the Players, some media members took him to task for saying he might skip the Masters to go on a family vacation. They couldnt understand how someone would pass up the years first major, the one thats exceptionally difficult to get into. What many failed to realize was that his wife, Jodi, was recovering from surgery for lung cancer. Suddenly a golf tournament, even the Masters, didnt seem so important. There are also still some who, for small-minded reasons, dont even consider him a Canadian. To me, a guy who leaves his native country to willingly take up citizenship, to give back to the game here, to start businesses here, to create tournaments here and make his home full time in Canada – and even cheer for the Calgary Flames -- is about as Maple Leaf as they come. Ames is more than deserving of a spot in Canadian Golf Hall of Fame, even if hes never learned to love those nasty wind chills. cheap nfl jerseys wholesale nfl jerseys wholesale nfl jerseys cheap nfl jerseys cheap nfl jerseys ' ' '
