adidas running shoes next year intends to open a new shoe-making factory in the Atlanta region, a move by the German sportswear maker to start bringing production of its sports gear closer to American shoppers.

adidas superstar shoes is giving its Olympic athletes even more even reason to shine at Rio 2016 by offering a select few of the brand’s best performers a pair of its first ever 3D-printed Futurecraft shoes.

Yes, along with those meaningless Olympic medals, athletes will receive a sneaker with an engineered 3D web structure with dense zones in high-force areas, a 3D-printed heel counter, and a 3D-printed, highly-breathable Primeknit upper. The new technology means that the Three Stripes doesn’t have to go through the process of gluing or stitching.

Unlike the Futurecraft 3D silhouette from a few months ago, this one features a black Primeknit upper and 3D-printed midsole. The heel counter is also 3D-printed, something we hadn't seen before. By integrating the heel counter into the midsole, adidas superstar trainers says it was able to avoid the usual process of glueing or stitching in parts of the design. Most importantly, an Adidas spokesperson tells Engadget that the 3D-printed Winners Shoe has been fully tested and is approved for running in. Yes, you can wear them without worrying that they'll break before taking any steps.
